Everything you need to know about the Float Tank

Floatation therapy is a unique type of hydrotherapy that simulates zerogravity. Floating helps to calm our overly stimulated systems and restores the body’s chemical and metabolic balance. Floatation therapy is a complementary and alternative therapy with evidence-based beneficial effects like pain and stress reduction. The water in the float tank is high buoyancy which makes it possible to float comfortably on the back.
Whatever your reason for floating, we want to make sure you get the most from your experience. Whether it is stillness of mind, pain relief, mindset, relaxation, fatigue or athletic progression, these steps can help you get the most from your sessions.
Before your session
Avoid large meals prior to your session, instead opt for a light, easily digestible meal
Avoid shaving or waxing 12 hours prior to your float therapy.
Avoid stimulants such as caffeine and nictoine which would work against the effects of the float therapy
Hydration is important, drink water before, during and after your session
Please arrive a few minutes prior to your appointment to check in, and try not to rush, leave plenty of time to arrive relaxed and ready for your session. We have a free car park for you to use.
We will take payment at the start of the session so that you are free to enjoy the relaxation room and amenities at your leisure after your float therapy session,
Your Float Room
After signing in we will take you through to your personal float room. If it is your first time, we will go through all the necessary information you’ll need. To have the best experience we recommend that you float nude but you are welcome to bring swimwear if you would feel more comfortable.
As part of your experience you have your own float room complete with a shower, fresh towels, ear plugs, shampoo, body wash and a hair dryer which you can use at your leisure either side of your float. The float sessions are 60minutes, but you are booked in to the room for 90minutes to give you plenty of time to enjoy the amenities.
The room is set up to enhance your experience, including an optional pillow for your float, a bottle of water and towel next to the tank, and a spray bottle in the tank to remove salt from your hands before you touch your eyes etc. We have an option to listen to music, or embrace the fun experience of sensory deprivation and allow yourself to relax in your own thoughts.
The Float Pod
The float pod itself is larger than you would imagine and they are so spacious that they don’t feel claustrophobic. They are the most hygienic floatation tanks in the world, the float pod has a pressurised, 24-hour filtration system ensuring total filtration between floats. The tank water is fully-filtered 4 times between each float.
You are in control of the lid and it is a simple lift lid so you close it yourself when you get in, and can lift it at any time, there is also a light in the tank which you can turn on and off at any time to make yourself more comfortable.
After your Float
Plan some extra time to visit our relaxation room after your float. Read a book, enjoy a cup of herbal tea, listen to our relaxing music, take some time to enjoy the feeling that the float therapy sessions bring, and come back to the real world slowly.
Throughout the day continue to drink lots of water, eat light and easily digestible meals and avoid exercise.
Some people feel extremely relaxed and tired, others feel energised and buzzing, it is a personal experience and the more you float the more you will create your own float routine.
